Located in south-central Uganda. Entebbe is situated 21 miles (34 km) south of Kampala the capital of Uganda, at the end of a peninsula that juts into Lake Victoria. It was started as a garrison post in 1893 and served as the British colonial administrative centre of Uganda until 1958. With an elevation of (3,760ft/1,146m) that gives it a perpetually moderate summer climate.
Entebbe is more of a residential area has no major industries. But it is a transportation crossroads for East Africa, with an international airport and steamship connections via Lake Victoria. This airport was the site of an Israeli commando raid on the 3/4, 1976, that freed 103 hostages.
